Our Breeding Protocol
We strive to give the very best of care to our guests. They will spend two weeks in Quarantine before they are bred. This protects your alpaca and our herd sires.
If you have special supplements that you wish your alpaca to receive, please let us know.
Once we have bred your female, we wait seven days before a spit test is done. If the test is positive, an ultrasound will be done at 30+ days. Your female will be our guest for approximately 90 days. We want to make sure she is sound with cria before transporting her back home.
Our farm is BVDV free and we take every precaution to remain so. Below are the CVI (Certificate of Veterinary Inspection) requirements.
- Negative BVDV PCR Test.
- Negative fecal within 10 days of arrival. Centrifuge spin only.
- Please de-worm your female with IVEM two weeks before arrival.
- Blood test done by veterinarian to ensure that your female is not anemic.
- Negative vet check for mites on the body and ears.
- Proven dams must have a culture done by veterinarian. Maidens not necessary.
